Epoxy Floor Coating FAQs

Are your floors like the BIG BOX epoxy kits?
NO. We only use proven resins from suppliers that we have had commercial/industrial success with for over 25 years.
The epoxy kits are just glorified latex or enamels. These are thin, have little bonding strength, UV resistance, chemical resistance or any durability to speak of.

How Long Will Epoxy Floor Coating Last?
Epoxy can withstand a great deal of foot and vehicle traffic. If the surface is regularly cleaned and maintained properly, our floors should have a life expectancy of at least 10 years. The combination of our preparation techniques and quality of product ensure that you will have a beautiful garage floor to enjoy for many years to come, although some coatings last much longer.

How Long Does It Take to Apply Epoxy Floor Coating?
The time frame to complete a project depends on the size of the room or facility. Smaller jobs can be completed in less than a day. A large facility may take several days.

How Long Does Epoxy Floor Coating Take to Cure?
Once the coating is applied, it takes two to three days for it to cure completely. Urethanes and Polyaspartics let you get on them earlier however, it should be dry enough to walk on after about 12 hours and suitable for light use after 24 hours.

How much will my floor costs?
After we look at your floor we can then give you an accurate cost. This is based on size and amount of prep and system that you choose.

Can Epoxy Floor Coating Be Used Outside?
Epoxy floor coatings are not appropriate for exterior use. Polyaspartics and acrylics can be. Exposure to the elements causes this type of flooring to look dull and lose its gloss. A better solution is concrete stain.

How Long Should You Wait to Apply Coating After Pouring Concrete?
Concrete needs to cure for several weeks before epoxy floor coating is applied. A good rule of thumb is to wait 30 days for each inch of concrete depth before treating the floor.

Is the floor slippery when it gets wet and what can I do to avoid this?
Because the finished surface is much smoother than concrete, the floors can tend to be more slippery when wet. Also, if you use a soap based cleaner to clean the floor (rather than the cleaning method noted above), this problem may be increased. Same Day Garage Floors recommends using a non-slip additive to the epoxy in order to avoid in this concern.

 Do you offer a warranty?
All residential flooring done under roof (i.e. Garages, interiors, etc.) carries a 5-year limited warranty against peeling or material defects, as long as the floor is properly maintained as recommended by Same Day Garage Floors.

How do I maintain my new floor?
For most of our residential customers a periodic dust down or vacuum. Occasional mopping with hot water and a low/no suds cleaner(such as ammonia).
